What is recyclyable and where can you drop it off?

on Thursday, November 20, 2008

Ever had trouble figuring out what is recyclable and what is not? More materials then you think are recyclable. The problem is that you can only recycle materials that your local recycling facility will accept. Well, how do you know what your local recycling facility will accept? You are in luck because Athens county has a list of all the materials they accept. (Accepted Materials) Please read this list carefully and fully. Rinse out all your bottles and cans, separate paper from your cardboard/paperboard, etc... PRE-SEPARATE everything before you get there. There are two convenient locations for drop off. One in Chauncey and one in Logan(click on the city for directions, read further for exact location of Chauncey's center). Both locations are open Mon. - Fri. 8:30am to 3:00pm, Sat. 8am-2:30pm, and closed on Sun. I go to Chauncey because its a couple miles closer. If you head out to Chauncey it can be a little tricky. Follow the mapquest directions, but stay on 682. Once you get through the mainly residential area on 682, there will be a sharp curve to your right. The recycling center will be on your left a couple hundred yards up the road. When the large brick buildings are on you left look for the entrance on your right. There is a small, hard to see, sign marking its location set a little ways off the road right after the entrance. You can park right in front of the bins on your right and when you park try to leave plenty of room for other recyclers. If you have no transportation, leave a comment with your e-mail address and we can work something out. Please leave comments with any questions you might have. Remember we only get one Earth. Lets do our part now, so our children can enjoy all the beauty it has to offer.
