"You do not have to go on an around-the-world crusade to try to "save the world." Some of the most important and effective things you can do begin at home in your daily life. As citizens of the developed world, we have an enormous potential to make a far-reaching impact through the actions, products, communications, and culture that we export around the globe. To make long-term change on a global scale, change must be rooted locally. This is the best tactic for re-casting our culture in a more thoughtful and sustainable way".

The Green Club at Hocking College

The Green Club at Hocking College is a new organization that is trying to get off the ground. Our immediate goal is to become an official organization at the college so we can harness our collective influence into making Hocking College a greener institution. Our first goal is to launch a campus wide recycling program, our first step being our residence hall, Hocking Heights. We started that program in May, and so far we’ve received support and positive response. Categories of recycling we accept are: cans, paper, # 1 and 2 plastics, brown and white glass card board and electronics. We also accept a limited amount of compostibles. If you want to be actively involved in making this happen please add us as a friend, and come to a meeting. We need the support of people who believe in what we are doing and want to make an immediate difference in our environment and the world. We also have a group on facebook, just search for “The Green Club at Hocking College”.
